Singers providing their own karaoke discs !

Now this is a contentious issue.

So firstly it is not my intention to offend any one.
We are interested in maintaining the best interests for the future of karaoke
and the quality of the entertainment we provide.
Through many poor experiences we have had over the years concerning
people supplying their own karaoke discs we took the stance of no longer allowing this practise.
Are we the only one's that feel it is not right for people to bring their
 own music?
I understand that many singers have preferred versions of the
songs they sing,
also it may be difficult to get hold of a folder listing available songs,
a host may not have a song you like to sing and so on.......
I provide the best quality karaoke discs possible as I'm sure most hosts do,
we all have our preferred choice of manufacturers.
The quality provided, the set up, sound, lighting, music is what creates individuality.
There are also a lot of copied discs out there that are of course illegal.
I clean my discs regulaly and look after them meticuously
as I do all my equipment.
The only discs I can be sure of are my own.
If a discs plays badly that reflects on me and my equipment.
When I allowed the use of singers own discs,
I was accused of damaging a disc when it did not play well.
I was accused of losing a disc.
This combined with the fact that on a busy night I could potentially have
many people wanting to supply their own discs.
Managing these discs became a problem.
Consider this:  as time goes on, most regular singers carry their own discs. Karaoke hosts no longer need to carry any discs or folders.
20 / 30 people passing discs up to be played some good, some bad,
some marked clearly, some not at all.
Customers now ask each other if they can sing songs that they have instead
of requesting from the KJ !!
Managment and flow of the evening would suffer and quality deminished.
I for one do not think this would be good for the business that we all care
so much about.
To conclude many singers out there would provide
good quality original karaoke discs but many would not.
Would you take your own CD's to a disco ?
I do provide many versions of the same songs.
(Just indicate your preferance when submitting your request).
I will make every effort to get a certain version if I'm asked.
Funnily enough the people who complain the most have not done either.

You can't have one rule for one and one for another. Hence our decision.
With Respect   Trevor

Alcohol and Karaoke

It's a known fact that many people will not get up and sing without a little,
if not a lot of alcohol.
We all know that alcohol breaks down many barriers,
we do understand that this for many people is required when it comes to
performing in front of an audience.
It is not our position or intention to either criticise or direct anyone in the amount of alcohol they wish to intake.
However, our aim is to provide the best entertainment possible for all concerned and we work hard to provide the best stage
 for those wishing to perform.
We welcome singers of all standards, all we ask is that, all who take part respect our equipment, the other singers and of course their audience.
We are not providing a stage for anyone to be
rude, abusive, vulgar or offensive.
Obviously it does not always follow that large amounts of alcohol
automatically incites any of the above.
But if we feel that someone has had enough to drink that they could be a hazard to our equipment, those around them and they can't conduct themselves in a manner that is condusive to entertainment at any level other than embarrasment. We will not let them up to sing........
Consider the fact that at most public venues,
we have to set up in a limited amount of space, we carry a lot of expensive equipment and run approximately 60mtrs of power cables.
No one wants any accidents............
Finally .... I for one and I don't believe anyone else wants to see someone try
to sing, who can't even string a legible sentence together.
This is not entertainment !
